Karl Bode at the always-reliable DSL Reports is reporting that he has received an email which declares that Oct. 6 will be the launch date for the long-awaited WiMAX services in Chicago, a town we visited just this past week and wondered where the WiMAX was. We’ve talked previously about why we think Chicago is Clearwire’s (and Sprint’s, and Comcast’s) most important market to date — let’s see what Clearwire does when it comes to marketing its wireless broadband services in the Windy City.
But even though Oct. 6 seems close, it might not be the next big-city launch for Clearwire — at
WiMAX World (excuse me, 4G World) last week we heard tales of a big Sprint-sponsored party at the new Dallas Cowboys football stadium to launch the WiMAX services in that town, sometime in the next two weeks. We’ll keep our party hats handy.
