Morrow, Sievert Out at Clearwire; Cue the Doors?

Though Sidecut Reports is officially on vacation we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the news today that Clearwire CEO Bill Morrow and some of his lieutenants, especially Chief Commerical Officer Mike Sievert, have left the company.

Though it was never a certainty, the departures of Morrow and Sievert were somewhat expected — I mean, it’s hard to justify a “Chief Commerical Officer” when your company has just said it was scaling back its commercial operations, perhaps indefinitely. And Morrow, brought in as the big-telco leadership figure for Clearwire, wasn’t able to figure out a way to co-exist harmoniously with majority shareholder Sprint, so the longer Clearwire went without a capital-raising deal the shorter his tenure became.

We’ll posit more on the Clearwire situation when we are back in the saddle — think next week — but for now we leave you with a quote from the late Jim Morrison, who said the future’s uncertain and the end is always near.
